Since the kids have completed the school year, we have been on the road visiting family in different states. In all of our travels, our Netflix membership has come in very, very handy. There are various times of the day when the kids are on and watching their shows, and when I am on and watching my shows.
How do we share nicely when we all want to watch at the same time? The trick is that we don’t all watch at the same time. I am more flexible with my hours, especially since I go to sleep later than the kids and wake-up earlier than they do. So, what have we been watching this summer?
My Shows (aka, the Mom Sneak)
I recently completed Season Orange is the New Black (wow, was that good). I just started Gypsy and Glow, because I can actually watch Netflix episodes simultaneously. Since these shows are not geared towards a younger set, I watch them while I am running in the morning.
This is my official #momsneak. Not only is it a sneak, but I can watch an episode while I run. The more I like a series, the more I run! If you are looking to get motivated, the Netflix Nudge may be helpful for you too. While I was visiting my mother in Chicago, we started watching Gypsy. We had had a very long day, I was actually falling asleep, and so we stopped watching. However, the next night, my mother suggested a movie about the Israeli arm, Beneath the Helmet. We really enjoyed it, especially since we had just visited Israel together in May. In fact, Netflix has a great assortment of Israeli movies and shows. In fact, these shows were featured in an article earlier this year, click here to see what you shouldn’t be missing on Netflix. I’ve seen the following and I am eagerly awaiting the next season of Fauda and Hostages.
My 9 year old son has been watching the most on Netflix. Right now, his favorite shows Power Rangers Super Mega Force. This is his favorite show because the characters can turn into any power ranger that they want. I remember Power Rangers from when my niece and nephew were young. My 10 year old daughter fell in love with Moana when she recently saw it by her cousin. My 12 year old daughter, well, she is not watching Netflix these days. She is actually an aspiring movie producer and prefers to make her own music videos on the popular teen app, Musical.ly.
What Else is New From Netflix
It seems like every day there are new series showing up on Netflix. I was most recently advised from the streamteam memo that Frozen 2 is in the works. Not only is that exciting for all of those Frozen fans, but now a new tune from Kristen Bell (Anna) will bring her voice to the Netflix original documentary Chasing Coral, now streaming on Netflix. The important documentary dives deep into the disappearance of coral reefs, and is a must-watch for any Netflix documentaries fans. As a wife married to a husband that loves the ocean, this will be something to stream about in our home.
I just love the reason why Kristen Bell decided to participate in Chasing Coral. She said: “I was moved and inspired by Chasing Coral and its message of hope for our planet’s future. I feel a responsibility to care for the Earth in whatever way I can, and I was honored to lend my voice to the original song. As we strive to make a better world for our children, I hope this film will ignite real action in advancing climate solutions in our global communities.”
Oh, Netflix, whether I need to do the #momsneak or the kid’s fight over whose turn it is to watch, I couldn’t imagine our devices without your app.
