“Compared to 16 other well-off nations in Europe and elsewhere, the United States occupies the bottom or near-bottom rung of the ladder in a number of health areas.” This includes diabetes. Among the contributing causes listed in this article, 2 factors, eating poorly and minimal or no physical activity, seem to be the ones we can have the most control over.
(US News & World Reports, Nov 27, 2012) “A new study shows that as a nation’s rate of fructose intake rises, so do levels of type 2 diabetes.” They continued by saying, “The study cannot prove a cause-and-effect link, but it does conclude that diabetes prevalence is about 20 percent higher in countries where use of the sweetener is high, relative to those where it is not.
This knowledge gives us some power. We can change just 1 thing today. Right now. How about walking 15 minutes today? How about giving us high fructose corn syrup today?
