As a kid, my dad would make scrambled eggs with cut-up salami every Sunday morning. Abeles & Heymann, a food brand that I like and have partnered with before, has the best salami and hot dogs. Well, now I like them even more because they are helping out the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston. They created a Go-Fund-Me campaign which started on September 1st and will run up until September 14th. I applaud them for this selfless act of giving and working with Chabad of Houston “Harvey Relief” and the Houston Federation. So, I’m writing this post because I want you to purchase a salami and make scrambled eggs, or a sandwich. Not just because those are great meal choices (and great memories for me) but because A&H will match the purchase by sending a salami to Houston. As I am sharing this, hurricane Irma, Jose, and Katrina are on the weather forecast. Just last week Hurricane Harvey has wreaked havoc on residents in Houston. The numbers are frightening: 20 trillion gallons of rain that fell on the Houston; $125 billion Texas Gov. Greg Abbot said his state will need; 93,942: homes estimated to be damaged or destroyed by Harvey in Texas; 32,000people in shelters across Texas; 325,000 people who have registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as of Thursday, August 31; 10,000 people rescued by federal forces to date; 200,000 customers without power; 120,000 residents without water in Beaumont, Texas; 24,000 National Guard troops deployed to assist in relief efforts and 1.3 million people in Houston health insurance. So, how is A&H helping this situation?
The holidays are soon approaching and it is A&H’s goal is to raise $15,360 by September14th. In just two weeks they plan to ship 3,072 (That amount is equal to two full pallets), of kosher salami to the kosher community of Houston just in time for the Jewish New Year. Each A&H kosher salami purchased for a family in Houston costs $10.00 and you can purchase as many as you like.
Wait, ten dollars for a salami? The ten dollar cost covers the salami and the logistics of shipping the salami to be distributed in Houston. A&H will match your purchase. The salami will be sent to Chabad of Houston “Harvey Relief” and the Houston Federation who will distribute them to those Kosher families just in time for the holidays.
